U.S. May Revisit Can-Spam Act
5 Apr 2007
LONDON, ON - Media reports this week indicate that a U.S. Congressional committee may hold hearings on that country's Can-Spam Act of 2003 to assess whether the law needs to be changed. At the root of the issue are reports that the volume of spam e-mail is actually rising and concerns from some quarters that the legislation has proved ineffective because it is opt-out based. Here in Canada, there has been no government action on this file since the federal anti-spam task force released its report in May 2005.
